A volunteer since she was seven, Serena is passionate about using her skills to help others in her community. Serena developed an interest in sewing during her third grade and has since stitched pillowcases, bags, bookmarks, and other trinkets for Stanford's Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. An avid reader, Serena organized a community book drive in partnership with the African Library Project for students in Lesotho. Throughout the pandemic, she has been performing virtually with her Ukulele and spreading the joy of music to senior homes. All in all, Serena has a genuine love for learning and giving and aspires to bring this perspective to Lion's Heart Teen Advisory Board in the coming years. Outside of volunteer work, she loves to write, sing along to musicals, and read until her mom forces her to get out of bed. Her interests also include participating in robotics and science fairs. As a Lion's Heart Teen Advisory Board member, Serena wants to foster friendships with like-minded, service-oriented teens and encourage others to get involved in community service.
