Online Orders

When you place an order over our web site, we will ask for your payment method preference, credit card account number, CVN, and expiration date (if applicable), name as it appears on your credit card, "bill to" address, shipping address, daytime phone number, and e-mail address. Some of this information may be stored in the form of a "cookie" in your computer. Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer. Your browser should give you the option to refuse cookies. Lion's Heart web site requires that you have cookies enabled on your browser security settings.

We may use your IP (Internet Protocol) address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site. Your IP address is used to help identify you and your shopping cart and to gather broad demographic information.

Credit Card Safety

Protecting the safety of your credit card information is important to us. We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your credit card information as it is transmitted to us. SSL is the gold standard in Internet encryption technology, which is a fancy way of saying that it's a highly sophisticated method of scrambling data as it travels from your computer to our website's servers.

To make sure you are accessing our secure server before you submit personal financial information, look at the lower left-hand corner of your browser. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending upon your browser), then SSL is active. To double-check for security, look at the URL or Address line of your browser. If you have accessed a secure server, the first characters of the address in that line should change from "http" to "https".

Liability Release

By paying dues to Lion’s Heart you are hereby releasing Lion’s Heart and its Class Coordinators, Officers and Executives of all liability while performing volunteer work for Lion’s Heart.

EACH LION’S HEART MEMBER IS VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN THESE ACTIVITIES WITH KNOWLEDGE OF ANY DANGER INVOLVED, AND AGREES TO ASSUME ANY AND ALL RISKS OF BODILY INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, WHETHER THOSE RISKS ARE KNOWN OR UNKNOWN.

Members are expected to act respectfully of others during Lion’s Heart meetings and volunteering. If the Class Coordinator feels a Member is not acting respectfully, that Member will be required to have a parent attend the next six meetings and all volunteering activities until the sixth meeting. If a parent is not in attendance at a meeting or during volunteering, the Member will not receive credit for attending that meeting nor be able to log in the volunteer time. If the Member continues to act inappropriately after the sixth meeting, the Member will be resigned from Lion’s Heart immediately.

By paying dues, parents and Members forever release Lion’s Heart, their respective directors, Class Coordinators, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, contractors, and representatives (collectively “Releasees”) from any and all actions, claims, or demands that I, my assignees, heirs, guardians, next of kin, spouse and legal representatives now have, or may have in the future, for injury, death, or property damage, related to (i) my participation in these activities, (ii) the negligence or other acts, whether directly connected to these activities or not, and however caused, by any Releasee, or (iii) the condition of the premises where these activities occur, whether or not I am then participating in the activities.

If I am a reciepient of the Torchbearer's Award and the trophy received is not returned or not returned in a usable condition, I am responsible for repair or replacement.

I also agree that I, my assignees, heirs, guardians, next of kin, spouse and legal representatives will not make a claim against, sue, or attach the property of any Releasee in connection with any of the matters covered by the foregoing release.

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS AGREEMENT AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENTS. I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND A CONTRACT BETWEEN MYSELF AND LION’S HEART AND AGREE TO IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL.

If Signed by Parent or Guardian: I verify that the dangers of the activities and the significance of this Release and Waiver were explained to the Participant and that the Participant understood them.

Use of your Personal Information

Lion’s Heart collects and uses your personal information to operate the Lion’s Heart website and deliver the services you have requested. Lion’s Heart also uses your personally identifiable information to inform you of Lion’s Heart business, including, but not limited to volunteer opportunities.

Lion’s Heart does not sell, rent or lease its Member lists to third parties. Lion’s Heart does not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations. Lion’s Heart’s website will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Lion’s Heart or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Lion’s Heart; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Lion’s Heart, or the public.

Privacy Statement

Lion's Heart uses photographs and videos of our Members for marketing, promotional and website uses. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you are authorizing the use of these videos and photos. Lion's Heart rarely uses first names, and never provides last names of our Members when using these photos. Use of Cookies

The Lion’s Heart website uses "cookies" to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize Lion’s Heart pages, or register with Lion’s Heart site or services, a cookie helps Lion’s Heart to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same Lion’s Heart website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the Lion’s Heart features that you customized.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Lion’s Heart services or website you visit.

Security of your Personal Information

Lion’s Heart secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Lion’s Heart secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

Changes to this Statement

Lion’s Heart will occasionally update this Statement of Privacy. Lion’s Heart encourages you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how Lion’s Heart is protecting your information.

The Rules Again

HOURS: All hours must be logged onto the website before noon (PST) on April 30th of each year. (See “What is Community Service” on this website.)

MEETINGS: Each group is required to meet 8 times each year. It is mandatory for each Group to hold a May meeting in which all officers are elected. Members must not miss more than three meetings a year. After missing the fourth meeting, the Member will be deemed "resigned." For groups that are formed after June 1st, they must schedule 6 meetings and Members may not miss more than 2. For Members starting after meetings have taken place, the rule is that no Member may miss half of the remaining meetings.

OFFICERS: All officer positions are to be held by Members for a one-year term, starting in May and ending on April 30th of each year. Elections for new officers will be the first meeting in May.

DUES: The deadline to renew Membership by paying the returning dues is noon (PST) on April 15th. If the Membership Dues are not paid between February 1st and noon (PST) on April 15th, the Membership ends on April 30th. A Member may re-enroll starting on May 15th but will pay the new Member Dues, which are higher, but only if they were eligible to continue by logging in the required hours and attended enough meetings. Also, that Member may only be assigned to their former group if there is space available. (See "Refund Policy" for further details.)

FUNDRAISING: Lion's Heart is not a fundraising organization. However, Members are encouraged to volunteer for charities with their fundraising efforts. No Member shall collect money for a charity as part of a separate effort.

DISCIPLINE: Members are expected to act respectfully of others during Lion’s Heart meetings and volunteering. If the Class Coordinator feels a Member is not acting respectfully or appropriately, that Member will be required to have a parent attend the next six meetings and all volunteering activities until the sixth meeting. If a parent is not in attendance at a meeting or during volunteering, the Member will not receive credit for attending that meeting nor be able to log in the volunteer time. If the Member continues to act inappropriately after the sixth meeting, the Member will be resigned from Lion’s Heart immediately.

TRANSFERRING GROUPS/CHAPTERS: Returning Members may transfer to another group or another chapter between May 1st and October 1st. There is a transfer fee. It is up to the Member to keep track of availability in the group they wish to transfer to. Neither the Class Coordinator nor the Chapter President will keep track of requests. Upon login, a Member selects Membership > Transfer Request, and follows the directions if they are eligible to transfer. Transfers are not allowed for new, first-year Members.

MOVING: If a Member in good standing moves 30 or more miles away, the Member may transfer to a Chapter and group in their new area (if there is a Chapter and a group with space available). There is no transfer fee for these Members and they may do so at any time during the year. The Member MUST contact the Director of Operations (see information on Contact page) between August 2nd and April 30th. Otherwise, the Member can perform this function online through logging in and selecting Membership > Transfer Request, and following the directions.
