09/02/2019 9:00A‑12:00P I colored happy drawings that will be sent to seniors, those in the military, or sick people to try to brighten their day. I completed 18 full pages of drawings, so hopefully 18 different people will smile when they receive my coloring. 3.00
08/29/2019 9:45A‑12:00P I helped to deliver meals to people at their houses through the Meals on Wheels program. It was nice to help provide such a valuable service to the senior community. 2.25
08/24/2019 8:00A‑10:00A I helped to package meal pouches to be sent to needy people in The Philippines. Each package contained ingredients for a complete, healthy meal. The entire group on my shift assembled over 46,000 packages, and I personally made up about 400 packages. It felt great to know that my time spent on this would feed about 400 people. 2.00
08/23/2019 9:15A‑12:15P I helped to deliver meals for Meals on Wheels. It helped me to realize a little bit about the daily struggles of people who have mobility problems. I met some very nice people, and I think they appreciated my help. 3.00
08/13/2019 10:30A‑11:00A I completed surveys and other online tasks to create scientific data for ongoing science projects on I did not know that researchers use the general public in this way to help them collect large quantities of data. It opened my eyes to a new aspect of the world of science. 0.50
08/04/2019 1:00P‑3:00P I helped to teach basketball to children with special needs, and I helped to cheer for the kids during their end-of-season award ceremony. I also helped to cheer during a basketball game with older special needs players. This was my second time volunteering with Shooting Stars, and it was nice to see many of the same kids that I met when I was there before. It was fun to see them enjoying one of m 2.00
08/03/2019 9:00A‑11:00A I picked up trash at San Clemente State Beach. I was shocked at some of the trash items that I found, and that could have harmed plant and animal life if I had not removed it from the beach area. This environmental cleanup is important to me because I want nature to be preserved, so people can enjoy the beach, and the plant and animal life at the beach, for many years to come. 2.00
07/28/2019 1:00P‑2:15P I helped to teach basketball to special needs children. Basketball is one of my favorite sports, so I hope that I inspired someone new to love the sport as well. 1.25
07/27/2019 9:00A‑12:00P I packed backpacks with school supplies, and put together snack packs for school children who cannot afford their own school supplies. I felt good about this task, as I am in the same age group as the kids that will benefit from my volunteering. It helped me to appreciate how fortunate I am. 3.00
07/07/2019 8:00A‑11:15A I was a "runner" for a swim meet organized by Set Swim club. I helped to keep the meet organized and on-time, and made sure that heat/lane assignments and results were posted promptly. I was a competitive swimmer a few years ago, and so I understand how important it is to ensure that the meets run smoothly. That helps to relieve stress for the athletes, so they can focus on doing their best in the 3.25
07/06/2019 8:00A‑11:00A I was a timer for a swim meet organized by Set Swim club. The swimmers were all age 12 and under. I was a competitive swimmer for a short time when I was 7-8 years old, so I know how much time and dedication these athletes have put into their sport. I was happy to be able to make sure they received an accurate time result after they put so much effort into their race. 3.00
